Comments : I wish AAMCO had the kinds of service like free inspection
like you do. Both Toyota and aamco charged me for a
external diaganostic on my manual transmission. Of course
they said for $300+ they would tare down my trans and
tell me what it would cost to have it fixed. Toyota
found $1,400 worth of repairs which they thought would
fix the noise my trans was making. They did not fix
my trans only did maintance on the rest of my car.
I think you will definitly do well with the policies
you have. I wish you had a branch in Lubbock.

Comments : The 74 Gran Torino came with a FMX trans.
I am using this for Hobby stock racing
and believe it to be a very good trans.
Up against those dam 350's and t350's is
difficult though.
I have looked far and wide for the ratio for 1st.gear
as that is what gear I use. The C4 being a 2.50 to 1
in 1st. I have used this ratio to set up my final drive
ratio. Could you help
in telling me what the 1st. gear ratio,
and 2nd gear ratio of the FMX trans would be.

Comments : I just got done rebuilding my wifes 700 R4 out of our astro van. I used a SK700 Junior kit. The tranny seems to be operating normal except for 2 questions that I have. 1) I had to adjust the TV linkage at the Throttle quite a bit from the original to get desired shift. and 2) 2nd to 3rd there is a hard to notice spool up between 2nd to 3rd only I notice it. the shift is quick and seems OK if you have some insite please reply to my e-mail. kblaksley@mci2000.com Thanks Kevin

It is true that the retail price of a unit should vary based on the cost fo the parts, labour and warrenty variables. The price should note be same for a soft parts job vs an explosion. Comments : I am looking for help in the Denver area regarding the AT in
a Mazda MX6 GT. The rebuild kit is priced between 350 and 400.
Due to the situation I currently am in, I cannot rebuild myself.
Every repair shop I have visited has given me astronomical
estimates with no explanation of why they would be charging
so much. When I speak with most of the mechanics regarding
the actual rebuild they are defensive, yet still can't explain
why they would charge so much. In one particular instance
the gentleman told me that smelling the fluid is useless and
I would need to taste the fluid to see if anything is wrong.

Comments : I'm trying to find out if the E340H auto-trans in my 1990 Toyota 4Runner is a 4 speed auto gearbox with a lock-up torque convertor, or is the overdrive a real 5th speed driven from a non-lock-up torque convertor?
Also, If I want to drain the old dirty fluid from the torque convertor, where is the drain plug and how is it accessed?
It seems to me that most of the fluid is in the torque convertor and not the gear box itself.

Comments : HELP! the tranny just went out on my car, a beautiful 88 t-bird turbo coupe 2.3 liter 5 speed.I care for mentally retarded customers in their homes and need to fix it but I am surrounded by men who have done more damage to it than anything else and foolishly I've even paid them for it. I'm trying to find someone in Ohio who REALLY knows and loves this peticular car so I don't get screwed again like the last time it was down;10 months in four shops,I was told over and over "there is nothing wrong with it" well yes there was,with my tax return(it took it all)at a dealership they discovered a missing ground screw in the distributor.Can you point me in the right direction?

I like what you said about how repair people try to rip you off. It's a nightmare when you don't have much money to work with & they sock you with at$ 600. to $900. to rebuild this old trans not including pulling out & putting in.
